Former Telecom Minister A Raja has been sent to judicial custody till March 3 in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. Raja will be lodged in Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

CBI Special Judge O.P. Saini sent him to judicial custody till March 3, as the the investigation agency did not seek any further remand for interrogation.

He has been sent to Tihar jail till March 3.

The judge also directed the Tihar Jail authorities to let the former minister have access to home-made food, besides his
medicines.

The court gave this direction to the jail superintendent on a plea made by Raja’s counsel Ramesh Gupta.

A CBI court on Monday had extended the CBI custody of Raja till Thursday.

Raja, along with the then telecom secretary Siddharth Behura and private secretary R K Chandolia, was arrested on February 2.

Raja got the telecom portfolio on May 18, 2007 and was re-elected as a Member of the 15th Lok Sabha and continued as Telecom Minister from May 31, 2009, till November 14, 2010 before he tendered his resignation.
