Delhi Cold Wave, Delhi Schools To Remain Closed Till January 13

The Delhi government on Saturday ordered that all public and government schools in the city will remain closed till January 13, because of severe cold and wave in capital.

In effect, the schools will be closed till January 14, which is a holiday for the ‘Lohri’ festival.

“The government has issued an order extending the holidays till January 13 because of the cold wave. All schools have to follow it,” an official said.

Earlier on January 5, Delhi government had ordered closure of all government and private schools in the capital till January 10 in view of the cold conditions.

Plummeting mercury coupled with icy winds have been making lives difficult for the people of the capital which has recorded at least three cold-related deaths since December 26.

The cold wave has persisted throughout this week and the maximum temperatures too has slid below 15 degrees C on several days. The minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 4.3 degrees Celsius, the same as on Friday.

The MCD has also extended the winter holidays in its primary schools till January 13.
