>Rangoli : Ratha Saptami | Surya Jayanthi | Chariot | Lord Surya | Kolam Designs | 2010

>Ratha Saptami Kolam (Rangoli) Designs – In this year 2010, the festival is celebrated on 22nd January.

Rangoli designs are drawn based on the chariot (Ratham). A single wheeled chariot in red and white which represents Lord Surya’s Chariot. Cow Dung balls are kept on Muggu (Rangloi in Telugu), to invite lord surya bhagvan and Lod Lakshmi into the Home.

Coloured Rice powder is used in South India for making the design of the Golden chariot with Seven Horses. The picture of this is shown in my previous post.

The below designs are specifically made for the Ratha saptami Rangoli and it can also be used for festivals like Pongal, Diwali, Makara Sankaranti, etc..,
